Step 1: Choose a university to apply for studies
There are both; private and public universities in Canada who offer admission to the international students. Both universities come with their own advantages and disadvantages but usually choosing the public university is ideal as it helps to get a student visa while their fees are low as compared to private university.
Choosing a university in Canada with a specific course is not difficult. The universities there offer courses in all major fields. You can search a related university through the internet because all universities have their website where they provide complete information like admission requirements, language requirements, tuition fee and schedule etc.
Step 2: Get admission in the university to get an acceptance letter
Do not apply to one university only even if you have an outstanding profile. You must apply to minimum 5 universities as universities have their criteria to give admission to the international student. You don’t know that how many international students have applied for the same course. To get admission you need to fulfil their admission requirements like minimum grades, English language certificate and writing a motivation letter etc.
On the successful application, you will get an acceptance letter from the university which has been required to apply for student visa. It could be in a soft or hard shape.
Step 3: Apply for the Canadian student visa
You need to visit the official Citizenship and Immigration Canada website to apply for the student visa. Students living in countries with limited internet access can apply for the visa on paper. Requirements to apply for the student visa are:
- Acceptance letter from the university
- Proof of sufficient financial resources
- No criminal record
- Clinical record of good health.

- Original letter of acceptance by the university
- Completed application form
- A valid passport
- Photographs; two passport size
- Bank statement or any other proof of financial support

- Proof that you have paid the student permit fee which is 150 CAD.
Step 4: Interview and Biometrics appointment
Once you submit your student visa application, you will be given appointment for the interview and biometrics. The date of the appointment varies from country to country. The average time is one month. You have to pay the biometrics fee at the time of interview which is 85 CAD.
